In 2019 I joined the team at C7Design to play a large part in revamping Thysennkrupp’s entire user experience and visual design narrative from its newly introduced brand identity into a flexible and cohesive all-encompassing range of product systems that allows the brand to articulate a harmonized way that cuts across regions, platforms and products. The ultimate objective is to fully align the company’s product portfolio and boost the overall brand recognition of TK Elevator through a baseline design guide that can be implemented globally and according to the prevailing regional codes and regulations over time.
To realize and complement such a comprehensive guideline, a wide variety of systematically designed hardware and digital interfaces has to be conceived and rethought with careful consideration from the perspective of the user’s entire journey to enhance user experience and strengthen the brand’s perception at every opportunity. I played a major role in leading a large portion of this project to fruition from a next-generation cabin design, a modularized signal and control system, to brand brand-new smart digital dispatch solution.
The entire user’s journey was used as foundation for the development of the design system with all points of interaction being carefully considered to enhance user’s experience and elevate the brand perception.
AGILE smart dispatch system
One such major piece of the puzzle in this project is AGILE, TKE’s own digital elevator dispatch system. I was tasked to redesign its bulky outdated physical interface as well as the digital UI to a modern standard that fits with the new brand’s direction. the result is a sleeker and premium set of devices that can fit in any sort of modern interior space and environment.
the previous version of AGILE dispatch hardware which was in a dire need for modernization.

developed concepts. the designs that hid the bulky housing and components were favored for further development.
final design with refinements to comply with multiple engineering limitations, cost concerns, and safety requirements.
the digital user interface design was also developed in conjunction to further enhance the system’s modern look and feel.
Enriching navigation experience for all
Apart from the aforementioned AGILE system, every other touch point along the journey has also been carefully rethought focusing on three major aspects - unifying design aesthetics across products and regions, improving the user experience and accessibility for passengers, reducing complexities, and streamlining manufacturing.
Ambient experience in the cabin
A passenger in an elevator cabin is more than the relationship with physical space, orientation, and time; it is also the relatedness with other passengers. Mediated Space provides a new perspective that directs the design of the cabin to focuses on both the interior ambiance and the social conduct in the context. The new design of the cabin makes user journeys more personal, inclusive, and safe.
